  • Vinnie got so much motivation from books
  • Check out Larry’s article about losing weight here

Losing Weight on a Low Carb High Fat Diet

LARRY AND KAY LYNNE

  • Both had incredible weight loss journeys on a LCHF diet
  • Liked what Tim Noakes had to say
  • Examined his own beliefs that had been imposed upon him by media and government
    • Researched why we ever thought sat fats and fats like olive oil are bad
      • Couldn’t find any evidence supporting that fat was bad
  • At first, Kay Lynne thought “I’ll believe it when I see it”
    • This ACTUALLY worked though!
    • nothing before this was sustainable
    • She at first watched Larry lose weight
      • It took her awhile to accept what she was giving up, but eventually she made the decision to try it for 3 weeks
        • She realized it was the right move
          • After this she never looked back
  • Their daughter influenced them greatly
  • Memory issues ran in the family — the two wanted to avoid their currently 2 year old adopted daughter having to take care of them

Putting Life Into Living

PUTTING LIFE INTO LIVING

  • Enjoy a piece of cake every once and awhile
  • Just don’t use this as an excuse to change your lifestyle!
  • You can have a “cheat” day every once in awhile, but this implies dietary restrictions beyond sugars and grains and can take people off the tracks
    • After a cheat day, you will wake up bloated, starving, and wanting to cheat more
      • Must be careful!
      • Eventually, you get over it. Then you have a good day or even a few, but then it’s your cheat day again and then you start all over. That is why you must be careful with having too many cheat days.
    • Having a “cheat” day once a week can be a slippery slope
    • That is why we say “Life into Living” instead
      • It isn’t a permission slip for a day, rather than maybe just ONE slice of cake every once in awhile

  • Now, in January, Tarun is engaged!!!
  • He is one of the biggest super fans

EATING IN INDIA

  • Cattle on the roads outside the city
  • The roads are something like “Frogger”
  • Although there is mayhem, there are no accidents
  • People so wonderful and positive in India
  • Vinnie thought it was a pretty unbelievable thing — the Ecoroots challenge, especially with Andy
  • Where Vinnie and Andy and Tarun were was one of the few states where you can legally eat beef (Shillong)
    • No fat people!!
  • Now where they are is a vegetarian hotel (Hindu)
    • Vinnie has been eating his saved beef jerky
      • He had trouble eating there
        • His shoulder was full of inflammation from having a tiny bit of unintentional grain in his food
  • People in India and at the hotel eat grains around the clock
    • Tarun even believes his peoples’ diet is “shit”
    • Breakfast: cake to spice up the breakfast options
      • Vinnie had to have chickpeas for breakfast until Matt introduced him to a restaurant in town that served meat
  • If you are fat, it means you have enough to eat
    • It can be a good thing!!!
    • Tarun’s family worries about him because he is lean, but REALLY he is healthier than ever

ADVERTISING

  • We only advertise what we believe in
    • We could be much richer if we advertised everything, but we won’t
  • This is an expensive show to run, but we keep it real

INDIA

  • Christopher Columbus started calling First Nations (Native Americans) Indians because he thought he had arrived in India in the 1400s
    • Serena didn’t believe Vinnie when he told her this because Vinnie is good at coming up with stories quickly
  • Also, while Vinnie was in India, he told a fake story about barely making it out of Vietnam
    • Jimi Hendrix was actually a paratrooper

JESS PERRECA

  • Has been overweight since the age of 6 — he is now 36
  • He has been on several times, has been supporting Vinnie and the show forever!
    • He was doing weight watchers when he joined
    • He is a favorite around here
      • Check out his old podcasts
  • Right now, Jess is about the heaviest he’s ever been
    • Well over 500 lbs
  • He has tried everything to lose weight but is derailed
    • He wants to make life the reason he SHOULD lose weight, but instead uses life as an excuse to eat what he wants
    • The greatest he ever felt, however, was when he started NSNG
      • lost 75lbs in one month
        • went about 6 mos and lost a bunch of weight
          • He didn’t know how to handle keeping the weight off/handling his success
    • Once work got more stressful, he didn’t keep up packing his meals, etc.
      • Instead he ordered food, went to restaurants, etc.
        • Once he got laid off, it made it even harder to get back on track

AVAOIDING NSNG DERAILMENT

  • It is easy to get derailed when you are dealing with life
  • Can be grief, can be a few holiday meals, can be lots of work that gets you off of NSNG and makes it hard to get back on
  • If you do go off course, just get back on the next meal you’re able to!
  • It is hard to approach the emotional side of it
    • NSNG can make you feel better, too
    • It’s okay to go off for awhile to deal with your feelings, but eventually your body will want to go back to NSNG
      • Try to get back on as soon as possible — once you dive back in, you CAN succeed!
