MUSIC

  • “Dire Straits” comes up because last name Nofler
  • Melissa isn’t a huge Bruce Springsteen fan
  • She tends to like the music that Vinnie plays but not always

WHY DOES FAT STAY?

  • Melissa is frustrated because she tries really hard to lose weight around her middle
  • She wonders if it is her age, hormones, insulin resistance, etc.
  • Perhaps it is in her head? Falling back into eating bad food is an addiction — relapse

MELISSA’S FOOD ADDICTION

  • She is dairy and egg sensitive so she has been doing elimination dieting
  • Melissa will have some wine and a slice of cake and then relapses, gaining all of the weight back in a couple of weeks
  • If Melissa has had a bad day, by the afternoon she may have a bag of chips
  • Psychological side may require a psychiatrist help etc.
  • Another way to deal with this is to avoid trigger food
    • For Melissa, one is definitely wine
      • Once you start eating badly, it’s like heroine
        • You need it to feel good (even though it is bad for you)
  • Also issue of Pavlovian response
    • When Melissa watches “Housewives”, she sees them eating badly and drinking wine which tempts her
      • Maybe stop watching such shows
