RANDONNEUR CATEGORY

  • No crew following them — if their bike breaks, they stop to fix it
  • Stop at restaurants to get food
  • At Vin and Andy’s stop, they have drop bags and LOTS of water
  • They speak with Matthew Frederick from San Fran who stops at their station
    • His first 508, but has done 2 600ks
    • Did a 520 at the HooDoo 500 but not Randonneur
    • He’s eating salami!!!!

BODY TYPES

  • While there are the sinew-y athletes here, there are also those with bellies
  • Proves that exercise is not the way to lose weight
    • 20% of the population are built thin and muscly
      • Thin no matter what
  • Lots of people here with talent and brain capacity who ride 12-15k miles a year
    • These people still have some weight on them
      • Because of diet!
  • Guy with elephantiasis in the calves
    • All the inflammation, often due to what you’re eating at the time
    • Tony Patera had this as well as inability to keep running etc… until he started NSNG

TIME STATIONS

  • People eat cliff bars, hammer stuff
