  • Richard found Vinnie through his love of coffee.
  • Once he began listening to the podcast, it took him two years to actually begin NSNG®.
    • Throughout his life, he thought he knew how things worked.
    • But he had extra weight since childhood and finally did the research.
      • During puberty, he had man-boobs, and he used food to cope.
        • As he gained weight, he felt he could hide behind his weight.
  • September 2020, he went all in.
    • Once he commits to something, he really commits.
  • Things that you like or love, you put a lot of effort into.
    • For Richard, this became something like that.
  • He listened to many audiobooks and really started to understand the science behind it.
  • The Facebook group and NSNG® community also helped. Support makes a difference!
  • You have to be ready mentally to commit to this lifestyle.
    • You CAN do it.

GETTING OLDER TOGETHER

  • Andy has recently realized he’s getting a little bit old!
    • He had to deal with Medicare.
    • And now, he’s talking a hip replacement.
  • Vinnie and Andy have known each other for 30 years!
    • Andy met Vinnie early in Vinnie’s time in LA.
  • When Vinnie got to LA, he realized it would be a grind.
  • Lots of people bullshitted him, Andy was not one of them.
  • The two met through Playboy.
    • Andy worked his way up. He began as a temp, and they hired him for real 3 days in.
      • He was there for ten years.
  • It’s fun to reflect on all they’ve been through together.

PURSUING NEW IDEAS

  • You might have a nice idea.
  • It may never come to fruition.
  • At some point, you might realize it’s too late for that idea. Or you might fail.
  • But don’t let that delay or that failure stop you from coming up with something new and pursuing that.
  • Andy and Vinnie failed a lot and learned so much from it. It’s what allowed them to be so successful now.

HEALTH IN THE ZEITGEIST

  • More and more people are talking about what’s actually healthy.
  • While many are off, like vegans, the idea of low carb and high fat, and eating real foods are becoming more common.
  • When people start speaking in specifics about their health, usually that’s when the truth comes out.
    • It’s hard to be specific about a lie.
  • This is why Vinnie tries to speak specifically, and Gina’s noticed others doing this now, too.

LEONA’S STORY

  • Leona found Vinnie via the Carolla effect.
  • She has been on the show before!
    • Sometimes she is lovingly referred to as ‘Vinnie’s girlfriend,’ despite the fact the two haven’t met in person.
  • She has lost 50 lbs eating NSNG®. She began this way of eating in 2015.
    • The first 30-40 went quickly, but the last 10-20 took far longer.
  • This just goes to show: if you feel like you’re stalling, be patient.

CONQUERING SOMETHING NEW

  • Leona first heard of these in 2018.
  • She was not really an athlete growing up.
  • But this piqued her interest.
  • Spartan Races come in all different shapes and sizes.
    • The races are different lengths, have different obstacles varying in difficulty and number, and the like.
  • Leona wanted to push herself out of her comfort zone and do something different.
  • She did her first one in 2019!
  • Vinnie’s always loved these adventure-type events, but he does think these are kind of crazy!
    • These certainly keep us entertained.

  • If you’re an ethical vegan, that’s one thing, but know that the production of vegetables kills tons and tons of animals just in the act of harvest.
  • Whenever you plant something, you kill something. This is the sad fact.
  • It’s important to know the truth so you can then make informed decisions.
  • Vinnie isn’t trying to change vegan minds. He’s trying to change the narrative.
    • Right now, Beyond Burger and other companies control the narrative unopposed.

GETTING HEALTHY TOGETHER

  • Dr. Tro is a name that many bring up to Vinnie when they discuss who they listen to with him.
  • And Dr. Tro says many of his patients listen to Vinnie and have found his PDF extraordinarily helpful.
  • Both Tro and Rosette are very accomplished: Rosette an attorney and Tro a nutrition-focused doctor.
  • Tro is a doctor.
  • Years ago, Tro was not healthy. He was so overweight. But his wife, Rosette, pregnant with one of their children, asked him if he was going to live.
    • That’s when he got his health under control so he could set an example for his patients.
    • At one point, he was 350 lbs. Rosette was also her highest weight at that time.
  • They got healthier together.
    • Tro has lost about 1/3 of his body weight, and Rosette 1/4.
  • When you change the diet at home to something low carb, it definitely helps if the whole household is on board.

RELATING TO YOUR PATIENTS

  • When Dr. Tro began losing weight, he tried to relate to his patients.
  • He said: this is hard, but let’s do it.
  • Once he found low carb, he tries to share it with his patients.
  • It’s something they can do together.

USING DIET TO PREVENT MIGRAINES

  • Diet can make a big difference for migraines and cluster headaches and the like.
  • Dr. Tro discovered that many who get migraines were treated with seizure medicine.
    • We KNOW a ketogenic diet can prevent seizures. 
      • And we’ve seen the same with these sort of headaches.
  • These are things Dr. Tro didn’t learn in med school, and they’re transformative once you realize the power in food.
