TODD BRANCH

  • Works with Vinnie’s brother
  • Listened to Rich Roll, heard about Vinnie without realizing he was Vinnie’s brother
  • Was  struggling with lethargy for a year after he became vegan
    • For performance enhancement and better recovery time
  • He and Vinnie have done 3 or 4 phone calls thus far; Todd finds them very helpful
  • No longer Vegan but NSNG!
    • Knocked off ~6 lb after switching

TODD’S LETHARGY

  • For awhile now, Todd had to take a nap in the afternoon each day
    • Ongoing for about a year — now done
  • Fruit may be the cause of this, as well as grains — on such a diet, the fat is in coconut oil and avocados, etc
  • “Light” feeling from veganism as well as refreshing clarity
  • After Todd cut out grain and such, the lethargy went away!
  • Now Todd will eat chicken and a burger, green shakes, etc

  • Vinnie can now get on a ladder and clean the gutters after his surgery
    • He likes doing this!
  • A couple pictures of this ended up on Facebook
    • People weren’t commenting on his arm… rather, on his behind
  • Fact of the matter is: Vinnie’s shoulder is doing super well! He has come a long way

PVS BROAD SPECTRUM MAGNESIUM CAP

  • It brings together several different types of magnesium : broad spectrum
    • Magnesium glycinate
    • Magnesium carbonate
    • Magnesium taurate
    • Magnesium citrate
  • Worked to get best result from a magnesium supplement
  • Magnesium can act as a laxative
    • This one will not be too strong because of the magnesium mix
    • Citrate is the one that has a laxative effect (and carbonate to an extent)
    • Taurate and glycinate do not so it works out that the pill is not heavily a laxative
  • Followed FDA guidelines
    • Most people do not want to take more than 350mg
    • Ours is 200mg — an effective, healthy amount
      • This way, if you need more, you can take more
        • But consult a doctor about that!
  • Muscle relaxation, mental relaxation, cardiovascular improvements, bone strength, mental clarity

FAT ADAPTIVE

  • Does sugar-love ruin this?
  • Fat adaptive means your body burns fat for energy
  • To become fat adaptive
    • Stay away from complex carbs
    • Let carbs come from veggies and fruit
    • Protein is good!
  • This is not ketosis
  • You do not use up the excess glycogen in our system
    • We need a certain amount of glycogen in our system but it is so easy to be reached
      • Veggies and fruit will allow one to reach this
  • Ketones change those triglyceride chains and burn the fat
  • This only works if you aren’t eating too much fat and no carbs
  • Stops using processed foods as energy and has to go to stores

Food Addiction

by Vinnie Tortorich

Melissa Nofer joins Vinnie Tortorich on this Saturday episode of the Angriest Trainer podcast. She asks questions regarding food addiction.

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSOR

  • Pure Vitamin Club

MUSIC

  • “Dire Straits” comes up because last name Nofler
  • Melissa isn’t a huge Bruce Springsteen fan
  • She tends to like the music that Vinnie plays but not always

WHY DOES FAT STAY?

  • Melissa is frustrated because she tries really hard to lose weight around her middle
  • She wonders if it is her age, hormones, insulin resistance, etc.
  • Perhaps it is in her head? Falling back into eating bad food is an addiction — relapse

MELISSA’S FOOD ADDICTION

  • She is dairy and egg sensitive so she has been doing elimination dieting
  • Melissa will have some wine and a slice of cake and then relapses, gaining all of the weight back in a couple of weeks
  • If Melissa has had a bad day, by the afternoon she may have a bag of chips
  • Psychological side may require a psychiatrist help etc.
  • Another way to deal with this is to avoid trigger food
    • For Melissa, one is definitely wine
      • Once you start eating badly, it’s like heroine
        • You need it to feel good (even though it is bad for you)
  • Also issue of Pavlovian response
    • When Melissa watches “Housewives”, she sees them eating badly and drinking wine which tempts her
      • Maybe stop watching such shows
