Episode 622 - Weight Training

DANCERS

  • Dancers have very little upper body strength
  • Many pop stars also apply
  • Vinnie has trained dancers who have had to weight train
    • Especially as they age

WEIGHT TRAINING

  • Fan of Vinnie wanted to know how many sets/reps to achieve a certain ‘deal’
  • Wanted to know about how to add chest muscle
    • Are chest flies worth it vs bench press?
      • If you have a lot of time, use flies to complement bench press
        • If you strictly want to add muscle meat, do bench press then incline press
        • Flies are worth it if you have time to do it
      • Bang for your buck comes from presses
  • Vinnie does bicep curls with 5/10/15lb weights
    • He is rehabbing and doesn’t want to press it
    • He will not continue once he gets back to 30/40/50lbs
      • Then, he will do pull ups etc.
      • Vinnie doesn’t like what curl biceps look like
        • Too Mark Wahlberg for his taste
          • real boobs vs. fake boobs
          • Curl biceps look too done
      • Vinnie is also a fan of lat pulls
        • Use a band attached to the top of your door if you don’t have anything else
        • Pull down to your clavicle
  • Vinnie likes a little extra tricep
  • A crossfit body is a good body, but lots of people get hurt doing crossfit because of bad instruction
