ZONE 2 HEART RATE

  • Vinnie recommends Zone 2 exercise.
  • It is best for weight loss, and is also excellent for cardiovascular and general health.
  • How do you figure out what heart rate you should aim for?
  • Take 180 and subtract your age.
    • But, add or subtract depending upon your fitness.
  • If you aren’t fit, subtract five from the number above. If you’re quite fit, add five.
  • That is the heart rate you should stay around to remain in Zone 2.
  • You’ll notice over time that you’re getting more and more fit, and you’ll burn fat and strengthen your heart.
  • It’s okay if you need to start really, reallllyyy slow to stay in Zone 2 when you start out.

NAUTILUS MACHINES

  • The Nautilus concept is as the angle gets smaller, the weight sets in.
  • Vinnie describes very generally how to properly use these machines if you have them.
  • Don Coddington will do one set to failure on all of the machines.
    • Some people believe in going to failure — this idea is in part what gave Nautilus its start.
