    • Performing compound movements is typically sufficient to gain strength and remain functionally fit.

    • Power Zone: Glutes, hamstrings, or “posterior chain.”
      • Dead lifts need to be worked up to; it’s not a beginner exercise. (39:00)
      • Hip thrusts are good, especially with a hip thrust machine or with a Smith machine.
      • Lunges are great, too, of course.
    • Posture Zone: upper/middle back exercises
    • Stability Zone: PALOFF press or “Indian club” (which is a weighted bat or club)
