Lying to Yourself

  • There is a person Vinnie has spoken to that is a heavy drinker, but wants to “prove that I have healthy blood.” (6:30)
    • They are trying to manipulate health numbers by temporarily quitting drinking.
    • Vinnie has told the person they are lying to themselves about what it takes to be healthy.
    • You can’t lie yourself into a healthy diet.
  • Using something like a GLP-1 is no different: you’re tricking your body into a specific response, but if the lifestyle doesn’t change, the weight will return when the drug is stopped. (13:00)
  • We don’t advocate smoking tobacco or pot because the long-term use is damaging. (16:00)
    • However, Vinnie and Chris discuss the odd and inconsistent tobacco use rules.
  • Fitness: are we doing it “wrong” (according to an article in the New York Times)? (29:00)
