All About Testosterone
- Today is all about the use of testosterone and whether it’s really necessary. (2:00)
- As we get older, testosterone drops; if you start it, it’s not likely you’ll get off of them because it’s hard to stop them.
- “Free testosterone” seems to be a big indicator; that is, the amount that is available for your body to use. (21:00)
- There are always many questions surrounding peptides and hormone replacement. The advice Vinnie likes to recommend is to fix everything else with your metabolic health first, and then see if you still need it. (23:30)
- Often, the decline isn’t age-related but diet- and lifestyle-related. (25:00)
- Vitamin D, especially from sunlight, contributes to hormone production, as do zinc and magnesium.
- Being obese has the largest impact on testosterone and metabolic function. (30:00)
- Lifting weights has a massive positive impact on your metabolism and hormone production (31:00).
- Quality sleep makes a difference! Just a three-hour difference in sleep can change levels in as little as a week. (32:00)
- Diet has the largest impact. The amount of fats, how many meals, and snacking—all of it can affect how (or if) your body creates enough hormones. (32:30)
- Magnesium is also good for building testosterone. (41:00)
- DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is derived from testosterone and can have effects on the prostate, hair loss, and more. (45:00)
- A good saw palmetto can help block the overproduction of DHT. As always, please do your research first.
- Creatine, when used in conjunction with heavy lifting, can be beneficial.
- Sleep affects many things, including leptin, ghrelin, and appetite. (56:00)
- Make sure you do your research before you decide on using testosterone. If your diet and lifestyle are optimal and you are still having issues, then maybe explore it. (1:00:00)
