SAVING VINNIE’S LIFE

• Aside from Andy, Dr. Gordon (or Patty, as Vinnie calls her), is Vinnie’s oldest friend in LA.
• Andy and Patty met through cycling, and then Vinnie and Patty met.
• Thanks to Dr. Gordon, Vinnie is alive today.
  • She figured out that Vinnie had a blood problem — that blood problem was leukemia. 
    • She noticed that he had very concerning symptoms, and thankfully right before it was too late.
• Then, Dr. Gordon made a specialty appointment for Vinnie. Had he not had it, he likely would not have caught it in time.
• For awhile, Vinnie thought he was dying. Patty helped him keep hope, and the two became good friends.

HERO OF THE YEAR

• Dr. Gordon does significant charitable work.
• Her work focuses around cervical cancer.
• So many women die from this global epidemic, and these deaths are 98% preventable.
• So, Patty works in these resource-bare countries to ensure that many women are receiving adequate health care.
• Primarily, they treat pre-cancer.
• Her organization has 103 clinic over 9 countries.
  • They’ve screened over 170,000 women.
• Patty is truly a hero.
