OPTIMIZING YOUR HEALTH

  • Vinnie and Anna start the show to discuss avoiding the phone and screen time and compare notes. (4:00)
  • Vinnie mentions a recent Instagram post where he talks about what three foods to avoid, and the response he received in the comments.
    • What is a glycogen load? Vinnie gives an example. (11:00)
  • Anna mentions the importance of going into your older years in optimal health and references Peter Attia’s book “Outlive”. (16:30)
  • Two important points about exercise are (19:00):
    • You can’t outrun a bad diet.
    • Exercise is the fountain of youth.

ADULT DRINKS 101

  • Vinnie and Anna are sharing ideas for NSNG®-compliant adult beverages.
  • Vinnie emphasizes that alcohol is a poison and mentions a Huberman Lab episode (August 2022) that discusses the science of what alcohol does to your brain and your body. (23:00)
  • Distilled liquor is NSNG®, and Vinnie explains why. (24:00)
    • Anna provides ideas that you can do. (27:00)
    • This leads to chatting about bitters and “abominations” like some Italian liqueurs, like Fernet-Branca, Fenocchio, Campari, and Aperol.
    • They are not fond of Prosecco and champagnes either, apparently.
  • Anna mentions how in social situations the odd pressure for everyone to like the same things, and they talk about very visceral reactions to certain behaviors. (37:00)

  • They also chat about grain alcohols and how awful they are for you.
    • When it can be used as fuel for a go-cart, it’s best to steer clear.

    • They both share ideas on infusing real flavors into liquors.
  • Be careful: when on NSNG your body processes alcohol very quickly and it can affect you much harder. (51:00)
    • Vinnie and Anna recommend sticking to one drink.
    • Also, remember alcohol is a poison and a sugar and your body will want to process that first; if you drink regularly and aren’t really losing weight, the problem could be alcohol.
    • Your body will always process the alcohol first and it will never get to burning your fat.
  • Be aware of how much you may be drinking–remember, you are NSNG to become healthy. (54:00)
    • They also discuss the risk and the varying ways that people use alcohol as a crutch.
    • Self-awareness is necessary, and you have permission to NOT drink alcohol as well!
