EMAIL FROM A VEGAN

  • Vinnie and Anna lead off by discussing how busy they both have been, which leads to some playing a bit of music. (2:20)
  • Then Vinnie and Anna discuss an email from a vegan that was sent to them which leads to a zippy little “stinger” that Anna makes up on the fly. (12:40)
  • Anna reads an email from Chris, a vegan, who Brings up “Beyond Impossible” and makes claims about B-12; as a result, Vinnie explains the sources of the vitamin. (14:20)
  • Vinnie and Anna also discuss some of the “rebranding” that is being used from “vegan” to “plant-based.” (12:58)
  • The email also inspires discussion of celebrity endorsements and whether or not they are effective, in Vinnie and Anna’s opinions. (29:43)

ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS

  • Vinnie and Anna then switch to a topic based on an article that was sent to Vinnie from the U.K. (35:18)
  • The article discusses the misleading idea that going “plant-based” is better for the environment; a large company in the U.K. got into a little bit of trouble by making claims that they couldn’t back up. (36:45)
  • The article mentions the importance of supporting locally sourced and sustainable foods when possible and avoiding highly processed foods and “food miles.” (39:12)
  • Vinnie brings up several very important points about food sourcing and the environment. (45:20)
  • Anna and Vinnie discuss environmental concerns and they advocate learning where your food comes from. (47:30)
  • They discuss sponsorship and support for the show and how sharing its message is important. (49:15)
  • This leads to a chat about particular products for women. (53:00)
  • The show ends with Vinnie’s song of choice inspired by the discussion. (59:26)
