Bodybuilding And Fast Food

  • Vinnie and Gina start the show with a chat about a little music, movies, and a couple of celebrities that have aged beautifully. (2:00)
  • Gina then turns the conversation to how a friend has recently returned from living in Paris and has lost weight because of the lifestyle in Paris was so different–she walked everywhere and rarely ate fast food. (12:40)
  • Gina then mentions some statistics that demonstrate how we as Americans are addicted to fast food. (13:50)
    • Vinnie comments to be careful what you wish for.
  • Vinnie gives an example of why even things such as protein bars aren’t great. (17:50)
    • Everyone wants everything quick and easy and doesn’t think about the trade-off.
  • The discussion turns to bodybuilding as a kind of trade-off because steroids may get you a certain aesthetic result, but the real result is horrible health issues. (21:30)
    • Famous actors and bodybuilders are now dealing with heart and other health issues due to heavy steroid use.
    • People in their 20s and 30s are now dropping dead trying to compete with drugs that are even more dangerous today.
    • Vinnie always admired fitness trainers like Vince Gironda, who never took steroids.
    • Vinnie has never taken any steroids either.
    • Gina describes it as the devil on your shoulder.
    • Vinnie and Gina go back to the saying: there is no free lunch.
