RELATIONSHIPS

  • Gina could get nearly any guy she wanted in high school
    • She exuded confidence
  • Vinnie was a good looking star athlete but was awful with girls!
    • Part of this was because of his speech impediment from growing up deaf
    • The nuns reinforced students teasing him
  • The most important relationships you have are your family and friends growing up!
  • Some young men are identifying as incels
    • They define themselves as unable to find a relationship (or friendships)
    • Many of them stuck on the internet
    • Some of these self-identifying incels are ones that plot (and some time succeed) to shoot up schools
  • Parents, make sure you know what’s going on with your kids at school and their relationships

BULLYING

  • Vinnie was an amazing athlete
    • Kids teased him a ton
    • However, once he started winning at sports, people started being nice to him
  • They were still mean to kids who weren’t good at sports
  • Don’t bully kids – you don’t know what they’re going through
  • Become friends with people
