CHRIS KILHAM

  • Chris is famously known as the Medicine Hunter!
  • He is all about finding and using natural medications while protecting the environment and supporting indigenous cultures around the world
    • Plant-based medicines
  • He’s learned much about cultural differences during his travels, and has learned a great deal from other cultures
    • Loves this learning, loves the traveling part of his job
    • Vinnie has been to India, as has Chris for his work
      • India is an interesting mix of the left-overs of imperialism and the indigenous culture as well
  • Written over a dozen books, check them out here
  • Came about this work through an early interest in herbs and the like
    • Started working in natural food stores which gave him a great entree
    • After this, began sustainability projects, traveled to learn about other plant-based medicines, etc.
      • Full time for 25 years
  • Believes that coffee has been maligned for all of the wrong reasons
    • This came from the church, not from science
    • Coffee is great, and if you don’t like the caffeine, have decaf for the health benefits
  • Cannabis from a medical standpoint has more and more benefits over time
    • Having it in fluid or edible forms is probably preferable to smoking
    • Amazing for people with pain and children with epilepsy
  • In the 1990s we learned about the Endocannabinoid System
    • This is what CBD works on
      • Satisfies that system
  • Ashwagandha is another plant Chris works a lot with
    • Has a book on it
    • This herb is considered to be the best in indigenous Indian medicine
      • Has been used for over 4,000 years
    • Good for strength, good sleep, endurance, etc.
      • Reduces stress hormones in the blood, boosts testosterone in aging men, increases O2 max, etc.
    • “Some people are surprised by how horny they get”
    • A good daily habit, according to Chris
      • Take it every day
