DAVID RAMIREZ

    • Enjoy the tangent about serial killers including Ramirez and Ted Bundy
  • Just completed a 50 mile ultra
  • David has lost over 100 lbs
  • At his biggest, he was 260 lbs
    • He was 29 when he started his weight loss journey, now is 35
    • He is 5’6″
  • He kept losing weight and then gaining it back
    • He tried to convince himself he was okay, but internally was miserable and hated looking in the mirror
  • David wanted to get healthy for himself and for the woman who ended up being his wife, and ultimately, his daughter as well
  • Initially, David calorie counted
  • Now that he is NSNG, he is not going back

BECOMING A RUNNER

  • When David started losing weight, he began to run
    • He had no idea what he was doing
  • David did a 10k and came damn near last, but he loved it
  • Then, he moved on to a half marathon after some other 5 milers and 5ks
  • He was losing weight until the half marathon training, at which point he was around 180 and the weight wouldn’t budge
  • After his half marathon, he started gaining some weight back
    • He NEEDED a goal:
  • He signed up for the Chicago Marathon
    • He went from 195 to 185 in training
    • He justified his bad eating habits by the fact that he ran
  • After running the Wisconsin marathon (196lbs) where he was an hour longer than he wanted to be, he knew something had to change
  • David found NSNG through the fact that his brother did paleo
  • He is now at 160, doing better than ever, running ultras and feeling great while doing it!
